PML
Project Management, Inc has been working with Cardigan
Mountain School for the past several years as their
Project Manager for large capital projects. The Wakely
Center Ice Arena was the first large project for
Cardigan Mountain School in which PML managed the
process of choosing a Design/Build team. The Cardigan
Commons Dining and Student Center is the next project in
a Master Plan that holds plans and hope for several new
and upgraded facilities in the future at their Canaan,
New Hampshire campus.
The
Cardigan Commons is a 350 seat dining facility, kitchen
and food prep and food storage building that will also
house the student center for this 300 student private
boarding school. Cardigan Mountain School is a junior
boarding and day school for boys in grades six through
nine that draws students from around the world and the
local region. The school’s outstanding reputation in the
educational world is reflected in the quality and cost
effectiveness of the Cardigan Commons design developed
by the Office of Michael Rosenfeld Architects (OMR).
Engelberth Construction of Colchester, Vermont is the
Construction Manager for this project that is scheduled
to break ground in April of 2012 and should be open for
business prior to the start of the fall term in 2013.
This project is designed to take full
advantage of the beautiful siting of the Cardigan
Mountain School campus overlooking a pristine lake in
Canaan, New Hampshire and facing the namesake Cardigan
Mountain. OMR has capitalized on the setting for
comfort, sustainability and functionality. The students
will enjoy three meals per day and will also fellowship
in the student union and book store located on the lower
level in full view of the lake and mountain. This
project meets a longstanding need for such gathering
places and for an up to date servery and food
preparation facility. |
