About Our
Company
Phil
LaClaire has spent over 40 years in the construction and
design industry. Upon graduating from the University of
Maine Engineering School at Orono, Maine in 1972, Phil
began his career in the design and construction market
place as a tradesman for New England Telephone Company.
He proceeded into the electrical trade, following in the
footsteps of his father, Alden LaClaire, P.E. After two
years as a tradesman Phil joined the engineering company
of E. C. Jordan, Co. of Portland, Maine where he was
introduced to the construction administration and
management career that he still enjoys, more than 35
years later.
During
Phil’s career he has been the general manager of a
construction companies’ branch office, a director and
general manager of a construction management firm,
project manager for an Agency CM firm in the early days
of Construction Management in the northeast, and
director of the construction administration department
of one of the largest architectural firms north of
Boston.
In
1995, Phil decided to provide construction project
management and consulting services with his own company.
He provided project management to his business
associates at Shaws Supermarkets. Phil managed the
construction of Shaw’s plazas in Colchester and
Berlin, Vermont, and in Tilton and Lebanon, New
Hampshire.
Since
those earlier days as PML Project Management, Phil has
serviced academic clients such as Dartmouth College,
Cardigan Mountain School, College of the Atlantic, the
Poland Spring Maine School District, the Falmouth Maine
School District and the Scarborough Maine School
Department. PML’s service to Dartmouth College has
included some twenty projects, including major residence
hall clusters, social and dining facilities, athletic
facilities, and two academic buildings. PML enjoyed
serving Dartmouth for nearly fifteen years with project
management and consulting services.
Phil
has enjoyed the opportunity to serve the College of the
Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine in the development of
their recent student housing cluster, offices, and
social commons projects. This extraordinary campus on
the shore of Frenchman’s Bay is managed by a very
professional and pleasant staff maintaining the superb
world-renown reputation of quality and environmentally
responsible campus development. It is indeed a privilege
for PML and a benefit to current and future clients to
have served the College of the Atlantic as their project
manager. Apparently President David Hales agrees. At the
recent ribbon cutting ceremony of the Student Housing
project, President Hales announced that hiring PML
Project Management, Inc was the “best money the school
has ever spent”!
PML
serves the medical service providers industry as the
project manager for Intermed’s new facility in
Portland and Yarmouth, Maine. They have used Phil as
their project manager of the tenant fit-up contract for
their location in the 10 story INTERMED building in Portland,
Maine. Phil’s experience in all facets of the industry
(Engineering, architectural, construction management,
general contracting, and claims consulting) equipped him
to meet the challenge of coordinating the fit-up of
Intermed’s four floor clinic, imaging center, and
operating rooms, with the landlord lease agreement
terms, the core/shell contractor, the medical equipment
delivery and installation, and the move management.
